TC's 2005 - 2006 Season

by Mary Chase. October 7-23, 2005
Directed by George Morrow
Elwood P. Dowd's closest buddy, Harvey, is a six-and-a-half-foot rabbit, but it is invisible to everyone else, including Elwood's society-minded sister, who decides her brother is crazy and must be institutionalized, primarily to avoid embarrassment to the family. Despite the fact that Harvey helps everyone he meets through Elwood - causing some hilarious situations along the way - Elwood is to be put away. When things get completely topsy-turvy, the sister gets locked up instead by mistake, and everyone finds out that Harvey isn't so bad after all.

It's a Wonderful Life, based on the film; adapted by James W. Rodgers. December 9 - 18, 2005
This Christmas-time story has been a favorite ever since Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed brought the characters to life in the famous movie. George Bailey, the Everyman from Bedford Falls, must be reminded by his guardian angel that the world has been a much better place because he was born. The play celebrates the American philosophy: hard work, fair play and the love and support of one's family and community will be rewarded.

The Mousetrap, by Agatha Christie. February 10 - 26, 2006
Probably the longest continuously-running play in the history of the world! The standard for all who-done-it mysteries. A group of strangers stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm: a newly-married couple, a spinster with a curious background, an architect more suited to being a chef, a retired Army major, a man who has had a car wreck in the snow, and a retired judge. The Ransom of Red Chief
from the story by O. Henry, adapted by Anne Coulter Martens.
Two inept gangsters make the mistake of kidnapping a brat known as Red. Thinking that his wealthy uncle will quickly hand over the cash, the hoodlums become involved in a laugh-filled situation populated with a house-keeper, two little old lady bird-watchers, some nieces who are less than lady-like, and Red's uncle himself, who has other ideas about how Red's ransom should be accomplished. Kids and adults alike will applaud this re-telling of the biggest crime in a small town.

Gypsy, book by Arthur Laurents, Music by Jule Styne and Stephen Sondheim
July 14 - 30, 2006.
Rose is absolutely convinced that her favorite daughter is the greatest star to hit the vaudeville circuit, and she spends every moment and every cent promoting a terrible musical act that, as the years progress, stays the same but gets worse and worse. When it becomes obvious that it is Rose's other daughter, Lousie, who is the real talent, the act takes on a vastly different format that makes Louise a celebrity but leaves her mother out. Classic songs from this show, mostly made famous by the incomparable Ethel Merman, include Everything's Comin' Up Roses, Let Me Entertain You, and Rose's Turn.
