Theatre Coppell thanks Coppell artist Kent Darwin for once again donating a print for our raffle. This year’s piece is “Beach Memories,” a watercolor, matted and framed limited edition print, which is signed and numbered.
Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10, available for purchase here. The winner will be drawn after the last performance of A Christmas Carol on December 22, 2024. You do not have to be present to win.
More about the artist, in his own words:
Kent draws in pencil, pen & ink, and watercolor pencils, and paints with watercolor and oil. Whatever medium he is using brings him great joy and satisfaction. Over the 37 years Kent has lived in Coppell, he has donated framed art to the Coppell Community Chorale, Theatre Coppell, churches, and other organizations to help raise money.
He sang in the Coppell Community Chorale for over 30 years and served on the Coppell Arts Council for over 25 years, retiring after the Coppell Arts Center opened.
Most of Kent’s commissioned paintings are from photographs of the client’s favorite places, animals, and portraits of people. The sizes for oil paintings have been as large as 3’ by 7’ and watercolor paintings as large as 3’ by 4’. His home is his gallery, with over 150 pieces hanging on the walls of his home.
His art hangs in homes and offices across the United States and some foreign countries. Drawing and painting still bring Kent great joy in his 80s, which shows that art is not limited by age.
