Theatre Coppell Announces Auditions for Rumors

RUMORS

A Comedy by Neil Simon

Director: Janis Arthur | Assistant Director: Ann White

Four couples arrive at the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to attend a party celebrating their tenth wedding anniversary. However, the four couples soon discover that there are no servants, the hostess is missing, and they find the deputy mayor with an accidental self-inflicted flesh wound that sets off a series of events causing the four couples to experience a severe attack of farce.

Audition Details:

• Appointments will be given priority; walk-ins will be taken as time allows

• Auditions will include readings from the script (sides will be available at the audition)

• Those auditioning should be prepared to list all conflicts or potential conflicts and availability for the rehearsal period as specified in the Audition notice

• A small one-time stipend will be offered to cast members

• Audition location: Wheelice Wilson, Jr. at Coppell Arts Center, 505 Travis Street, Coppell, TX 75019  

Rehearsals:

• The first read-through and rehearsals will begin Monday, August 25th

• Rehearsals are generally held on weeknights (Mon. Tues. Thurs. Fri.) from 7:00pm – 10:00pm, and Sunday afternoons from 2:00pm – 5:00pm

• A detailed rehearsal schedule will be made available upon the completion of casting

• TECH/DRESS REHEARSAL WEEK: October 5, 6, 7, 9

Performances:

• NO CONFLICTS ACCEPTED DURING Performance dates: October 10, 11,12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26 

• Performance dates: October 10 - 26 (Friday & Saturday evenings @ 8pm & Sunday matinees @ 2:30pm)

• Four (4) couples to be matched. Age ranges 30 - 40's

• Two (2) police officers. Age ranges 30 - 50's

Chris Gorman: (Female, age 30-40’s) Ken’s elegant and attractive wife. A bit high strung.

Ken Gorman: (Male, age 30-40’s) A well-spoken, handsome attorney. A bit high strung.

Claire Ganz: (Female, age 30-40’s) Lenny’s gossip-monger, attractive wife. A Westchester, New York housewife type.

Lenny Ganz: (Male, age 30-40’s) An accountant who has just wrecked his brand-new BMW. Irascible, sarcastic, and very likeable.

Ernie Cusack: (Male, age 30-40’s) A smug psychiatrist.

Cookie Cusack: (Female, age 30-40’s) Ernie’s wife and a cooking show host with a bad back. She has a very dramatic, physical personality.

Glenn Cooper: (Male, age 30-40’s) An ambitious, polished man preparing for a run for the state senate.

Cassie Cooper: (Female, age 30-40’s) A jealous type who believes in the healing power of crystals. Glenn’s trophy wife.

Officer Welch: (Male, age 35-50’s) A vigorous, straight-talking, veteran police officer.

Officer Pudney: (Female or Male, age 30-50’s) A rookie cop.
